Honorable Mention
Harmony Monument
Anthony H. Schmidt, Jr.

A mountain splendor slowly downward spills,
where earth and sky surrounds its solid mass,
and daring people venture, set for thrills,
to welcome what lies over its high pass.

The journey furrows distant fruitful lands,
where creatures grow to cry and crave accord.
A rivulet of verve runs to lone sands,
where gentlemen have yielded to the sword.

Before and during times that fate had paved,
that Christ be born, receiving greater sin.
And after Christ had died, some people raved,
and prayed that He will live and rise again.

For eyes that view the fountain, life is good;
behold the mountain view, where strife once stood.
